In this interview Lorena shares her experiences; growing up in Mexico, crossing the border to America, trying to build a life in America, becoming a teen mother and how she received help from the state, her struggles as a hairstylist, her opinions on how immigrants are treated and should be treated in America by politicians and people alike, and her experiences being a DACA recipient. Scope and Content:
This is a transcript of an oral history interview that took place as part of the class projects for Middlesex College's History 221H class in the Fall of 2021.
Biographical:
Lorena is a 36-year-old female immigrant from Mexico. She was born in Mexico City and came to America when she was around 12 years old, with her mother and sister. She is currently a DACA recipient. She graduated high school in 2004. Lorena is married and has an 18-year-old daughter. Lorena has been working in cosmetology since she was 20 years old.

"We are all the same. We’re here for the same thing. To survive. To love your family. To provide for your family. We immigrants are the same. We don’t come here hoping to steal somebody’s job. We come here to survive. To give my family, my children, my parents a better life." -Lorena
