Carolina Moratti migrated to New Jersey from Arequipa, Peru in 2005. Shortly after her arrival here, she found herself as a single mother and survivor of domestic violence, experiencing first hand what it meant to not have access to necessary resources. The challenges she faced in her early years here did not discourage her, rather, they empowered her to help others and become the community leader she is today. She has helped shape such community outreach projects as Sisterwork, Promesa Project, Local Strength, and Cooking Outside the Box. Her dedication to helping others has led her to being recognized as one of the "Top Latinos in New Jersey," and honored by the Peruvian Consulate in New Jersey for community leadership.
