520 3    |a Opening around 1978, East Jersey Old Town Village is a unique historical site located within Johnson Park in Piscataway, New Jersey. It was founded by Dr. Joseph Kler and several other residents. On this site, there are over ten historic buildings located here, including the Indian Queen Tavern, Farley Blacksmith Shop, Williamson Wheelwright Shop, Smalleytown Schoolhouse, Three Mile Run Church, homes of early settlers, and outbuildings. Operated by the Middlesex County government, the village utilizes these buildings to tell Middlesex County’s long history. There are interpreters like a stone carver, home and hearth cooking demonstrations, printer, blacksmith, chapel, schoolhouse teacher, doctor, Revolutionary War soldiers, musicians, and much more. Alongside the historical interpreters, there is a gift shop that can be found in this village where visitors can immerse themselves into the history even further. Likewise, there are programs in this village that are open to all ages and cover many topics and periods, and the various programs they hold at the village are created to engage the public in learning about Middlesex County’s history in an exciting way.
