Biographical:
"My name is Linda. I came to this country with my brother in 1987 to receive medical treatment and later worked undocumented for 7 years. I was assigned residency status when my mother applied for the legalization of my three siblings and me. After 7 years of being a resident, I obtained American citizenship. At first, it was very difficult because of the language barrier, racist encounters, and being far from my children. I worked jobs caring for children and cleaning houses, bakeries, and supermarkets. I didn’t have the opportunity to go to college or university because I had to work to take care of my children. Currently, I’m retired, and I can say that I have achieved the American dream" (Pseudonym used)
Venue:
Recorded on November 11th, 2024, and November 22, 2024, at Dunellen NJ
