During this Interview the Jose DaRocha (Interviewee) talks about what he remembers in Portugal. The Jose DaRocha also talks about how he learned English, he talks about his struggles learning the language and what helped him the most. Family, Community service and overall passion is discussed. Abstract:
This is a transcript [and/or recording] of an oral history interview that took place as part of the class projects for Middlesex College's History 221H class in the Fall of 2023.
General Note:
(Biographical) Jose DaRocha was born in a small farm town in Portugal. Jose immigrated when he was 7 years old, after immigrating he started working with his father in 8th grade. Mr. DaRocha got married and has 3 children, Jose worked in physical hands on jobs to provide for himself and his family. Community service is a huge part of Mr. DaRocha's life's goal.
