Notes

Summary:
Colette briefly discusses her childhood in Ireland, and about how she got into Theatre and eventually landed her job at the Abbey Theatre. She tells me about meeting her now-husband Jason, and the first few weeks they spent together. She talks about their long-distance relationship and their visits, meeting his parents, etc. She tells me about the process of obtaining a k1 visa and the challenges and obstacles they faced during this process. We talk about what it was like adjusting to life in the US, and starting a family here. She tells me a bit about Irish culture in the city. She finishes off the interview with a piece of advice. Biographical:
Colette grew up on a farm in County Wexford, a town in Ireland about 100 miles from Dublin. She got into theatre when she was a teenager, and stage management when she was a bit older. She eventually began working with the Abbey Theatre. In 1999 she went to the Lincoln Center Festival working as a stage manager with Abbey Theatre. There, she met Crew Chief Jason. They knew there was a spark, so when she went back to Ireland, they did long distance. In November of 2000, Colette moved to NYC on a k1 visa, and they got married January. They lived in NYC until 2006, after the birth of their second child. They now live in Middlesex County with two kids, and this January will have been married 23 years!
Venue:
Recorded on December 4th, 2023 at Colette's home
